Business good at new Southbury gym

SOUTHBURY — The economy may be in the tank, but people are still paying to sweat. Want proof? Drive to Southbury and visit the community's new monument to fitness, a place simply called The Gym.

This Manhattan boutique-style fitness club opened three weeks ago on a day the Dow Jones index soared 936 points, its biggest point gain ever. Perhaps that was a sign for owners Seth Hirschel and Marc Miles that, despite what some might say was poor timing in opening their 12,500-square-foot club, profitability is right around the corner.
